“Alcohol is a well-established, preventable cause of cancer responsible for about 100,000 cases of cancer and 20,000 cancer deaths annually in the United States. Yet the majority of Americans are unaware of this risk.” Dr. Vivek Murthy, U.S. surgeon general.
Dr. Graham Colditx, associate director at the Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis told the Wall Street Journal:
“Even low levels of alcohol consumption cause cancer. This is almost one of those pieces that has been ignored by the health recommendations historically.”
WSJ, 1/3/25
