Retired Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller didn’t think she would be able to have another baby after fighting ovarian cancer- she worried that her chemotherapy would impact her fertility- but luckily, she was wrong.
Ovarian cancer is the fifth most common cancer for women. Miller is sharing her story to raise awareness, and she’s stressing the importance of regular screenings because symptoms don’t always show up right away (they didn’t in her case).
“I really want to help so many people. I want to scream from the rooftops to get regular screenings, early detection really does save lives. That has become a mantra for me,” Miller says.
