Have you ever thought about why people share too much personal information on social media? Dr. Hal Shorey thinks it depends on your attachment style, or how you form emotional bonds with other people. Anxious types are more sensitive to social cues, making them prone to BYB, or bragging your business. Talking about yourself can also be rewarding. because it stimulates areas of the brain associated with love, pleasure and addiction. While some joke about oversharing, others have learned the hard way that it can be used as evidence by an employer or even in a court of law. It’s important to have boundaries between private and public life, so those who are prone to BYB may want to think twice before their next post. As the author of the article, Margaret Rock, puts it, “In the end, rethink your computer or social-media use if you’re anxious, doing questionable things or under the influence.
