Diana Nyad, at age 64, became the first person to swim the more-than-100-mile journey from Cuba to Florida without a cage to protect her. This was Nyad’s fifth attempt in 35 years, but the swimmer’s mantra to “find a way” helped her to fulfill her dream.
Nyad shared three messages: “One is we should never, ever give up. Two is you never are too old to chase your dreams. Three is it looks like a solitary sport, but it’s a team.” Nyad faced many obstacles during her five trips, including painful jellyfish stings, rough seas, and asthma attacks that lasted hours, but she persevered.
Good For You! to Diana Nyad for an inspiring accomplishment!
