For years, “Today” show viewers began their morning with Jane Pauley. The former NBC host and award-winning reporter is now sharing life lessons she has learned in her new book, “Your Life Calling: Reimagining the Rest of Your Life.”
Regarding reinventing yourself later in life, Pauley says, “Reinvention can be a matter of being reintroduced to yourself in a new light.” While she says it takes time, we all need to recognize our shortcomings and mistakes so that we can continue to grow from those experiences. Pauley has certainly encountered challenges along the way, from struggling with bipolar disorder to seeing her daily syndicated talk show canceled after one year. Yet, she says, “It was the best year of my life.”
With a positive outlook and willingness to reinvent herself, Pauley believes it’s never too late to change your life. She shares a few rules for reinventing yourself, including knowing that you won’t always succeed on your first try. Reinventing yourself doesn’t necessarily mean changing everything, but it does mean that you learn from the struggles you encounter along the way to help you make positive changes.
