“When it comes to cell phones, the bra has become the new purse,” Dr. Oz says. But keeping your cell phone in your bra may be increasing your risk of developing breast cancer, according to Dr. Oz and other experts. Tiffany Frantz, a 23-year-old guest on the Dr. Oz Show, found out she had breast cancer in 2011 at the age of 21. It was a difficult and confusing diagnosis, since Tiffany was so young. She had kept her phone in her bra 24/7 for four years before her diagnosis, and it turned out she was keeping her phone in the exact same spot where she developed cancerous tumors. While her doctor has never publicly announced that keeping her phone in her bra was the cause of her cancer, other young women have had similar experiences. Cell phones and WiFi systems emit electromagnetic fields, and while they haven’t been formally linked to cancer yet, experts like Dr. Andrew Weil are concerned about the impact on our health. To limit your exposure, Dr. Weil recommends using an earpiece, keeping your phone away from your head, and making sure WiFi routers are not based in your bedroom. If you regularly keep your cell phone in your bra or near your breasts, Dr. Oz recommends finding a new storage space to help protect you from cancer.
