Brian and Chandra Davis live in Tennessee, but shortly after 9/11 they left the safety of their home to go to New York and volunteer to help with the cleanup. Now they are in need of medical help after being exposed to toxins that affected those working at the site, including an estimated 100,000 volunteers. An outreach campaign has been started to spread the word that help is available to those who are still suffering from health complications. The Sept. 11 Victim Compensation Fund was established to help those who become sick from exposure, but there is an Oct. 3 registration deadline that is quickly approaching. Sheila Birnbaum, Sept. 11 Victim Compensation Fund administrator and Manhattan attorney, says, “If people are unsure, they should register so they are covered.” Visit vcf.gov or call (855) 885-1555 to register before the deadline.
