What would you do if you found out that your teenagers had been rude to an adult who asked them to stop talking during a movie at a local theater?
Kyesha Smith Wood is one mom who took decisive action after her son told her about the “obnoxious” behavior of his two sisters. Wood says she was embarrassed by how they had acted and immediately took to Facebook to find the woman and apologize: “After the movie, she had approached my girls and told them her husband had been laid off and this was the last movie she would be able to take her daughter for a while and my girls ruined that for her.”
Wood asked that the moviegoer contact her, because her daughters had written a letter of apology. In addition, the girls would be paying out of their allowance for movie tickets and snacks for this woman’s family.
That woman was Rebecca Boyd, who read the posting by the local sheriff’s department and had this reaction: “The note from the mom brought me to tears and shows there is still good people in the world. I have no hard feelings towards them and I am proud off their parents… The girls are not bad…they are children. Glad they are learning a lesson. I hope if my teenagers are out and they act up, I hope someone says something to them.”
The story has a happy ending and a new beginning. Both moms are now friends on Facebook. Wood say she is grateful for what Boyd said to her daughters: “She took it upon herself to correct my girls and nobody else did. She’s the most gracious and kind and forgiving woman. I am so humbled by that.”
