Do you really know what’s in your food? Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are used to make crops more resistant to external stressors, but many people are worried about the impact GMOs may have on our health and the environment.
“The studies have been done on different animals- and also reports from farmers- seem to suggest health issues, including intestinal problems, inflammation of the colon…and problems with the kidneys, the liver, the lungs,” says Dr. Michael Wald, of Integrated Medicine of Mount Kisco, New York.
GMOs can now be found in 70% of the items in U.S. grocery stores, leading people to request labels that identify GMO products. More research is needed, but Wald suggests steering clear of GMO products if you are unsure of them.
