This op ed expresses the writer's outrage (and that of many Americans) at Congress's ban on incandescent light bulbs, the bulbs we have been using all of our lives. He points out that the light bulb ban, going into effect in January, will only lead to a reduction of America's overall energy use by 2 percent at best, and the harsh brightness of halogen bulbs and fluorescent bulbs that we will have to endure is simply not worth it. At the Good for You Network, we are even more concerned about the dangerous levels of mercury in those bulbs.
